Mechanical Design Engineer

Job Responsibilities

  • Hydraulic circuit designs include open circuit with multi-station valve manifolds as well as closed circuit applications
  • Develop 3D CAD models and assemblies and 2D drawings in Autodesk Inventor of mechanical and hydraulic systems
  • Work in Vault environment with a high degree of organization and accuracy
  • Develop creative and efficient hydraulic and mechanical designs
  • Create and model custom hydraulic manifold utilizing MD Tools and Autodesk Inventor
  • Sizing and selection of pumps, motors, cylinders, valves, filters, and coolers
  • Selection of hydraulic and mechanical hardware and work with vendors of these components
  • Create and maintain accurate bills of materials
  • Integration of hydraulic and electrical control systems, working alongside electrical designers
  • Perform basic mechanical and hydraulic design calculations related to pressure, flow, speed, torque, force, and geometry, etc.
  • Design and draw hydraulic schematics using AutoCAD
  • Develop documentation for the design for customer approvals and supplier manufacturing
  • Work with vendors to optimize manufacturing techniques to ensure designs are made to account for the latest manufacturing capabilities
  • Lead and coordinate multiple projects simultaneously and interact with suppliers and customers
  • Perform product and design verification tests
  • Generate quotes and proposals for new systems
  • Implement new process procedures and modifications for more efficient operations
  • Provide technical support to customers via phone, email or on-site visits

 

Job Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Mechanical Engineering or equivalent
  • 3-5 years of relevant experience
  • Highly organized in daily activities
  • Hands-on hydraulic systems start-up and troubleshooting
  • Self-motivation and ability to prioritize projects to meet completion dates
  • Able to work in a fast-paced, rapidly changing, team environment
  • Ability to travel to customer site for system startup and support, including international travel
  • Strong English communication skills, both written and spoken
  • Ability to pass background check and have or be able to obtain a US passport
  • Flexibility to work overtime and weekends as needed

Preferred Qualifications

  • Familiar in use of precision hand tools and machining tools
  • Fabrication, welding and manual machining experience a plus
  • Outside processing knowledge (heat treating, plating, coating, EDM, grinding, etc.)
  • Familiarity with electronic control systems
